Pass 2 exams during the Technical Intern Training period after relocating to Japan

During your 3-year stay as a technical intern trainee, you are required to pass 2 exams.
The two exams include beginner and professional exams and are mandatory for those who work on the Technical Intern Training visas.
Even if you pass the exams, the company that you will work for must renew your contract so that you can work.

Cautions on the transition from Technical Intern Training to SSW

(1) Technical Intern Training (i) (first year/for 1 year) does not allow the transition to SSW.
(2) Technical Intern Training (ii) (2nd to 3rd year/for 2 years) must be completed with“good evaluation” .
(3) In the case of Technical Intern Training (iii) (4th to 5th year/for 2 years), the Technical Intern Training plan must be completed (including expected completion).

Cautions on Technical Intern Training (iii)
Most visas and Technical Intern Training plans are to be applied for on a yearly basis. Formally, it is possible to transfer to SSW in the 4th year (at the end of the 1st year of (iii)), however, in general, employment contracts are often concluded for 3 years of (i) + (ii) and 2 years of (iii), and it is considered that ending (iii) after just 1 year is not preferable for the Japanese labor practice. Companies may plan 2 years of working on (iii).
If you, at your own judgment, offer to transfer to Technical Intern Training when you work on (iii) for 1 year, you may have trouble with the receiving organization or managing organization you are enrolled in when leaving the company.

In order to prevent trouble, our support service will only accept applications for those who have completed (or will complete) (iii) for 2 years.

Transfer from a "Technical Intern Training" visa to an "SSW" visa

By transferring from a "Technical Intern Training "visa to an "SSW" visa, you can work in Japan for another 5 years.

However, if you transfer to an "SSW" visa, you will need to enter into an employment contract with the company you will work for.
It is impossible to transfer to the "SSW" visa when no company informally offers a job since the “SSW” visa is issued after entering into an employment contract with the company employs you.

We have been very successful in connecting mechanics with "SSW" visas with companies hope to employ them in our own network, and they are already working well with the companies employed them.

Past employment cases

March 2021, 3 people who were hired as SSWs

They worked in Japan for 3 years on their Technical Intern Training visas.
As their 3-year contract ended, they searched for their next companies.
They joined Toyota's authorized dealership in Mie prefecture.
As transferring to SSW visas while making use of their experience in their Technical Intern Training, they achieved 2 things: employment and upskilling.

Reason why they were hired!

The number-one reason was their Japanese language skills. It was a big indication to be hired that they had studied Japanese very hard.
The number-two reason is their communication skills. At dealerships, people tend to work valuing teamwork.
Since they were able to initiate communication instead of waiting to be spoken to, they were hired.
The number-three is that they were familiar with Japanese working style and life culture.

Advice from them

At any rate, learning Japanese language. It would be better to study Japanese hard during your 3 years of Technical Intern Training.
In addition, understand how Japanese people proceed with their work.

I studied of Japanese hard. It is necessary to study enough to be able to have conversation by memorizing the meanings well.
And we, Filipinos, have much pride. In my previous workplace, I had a Filipino junior colleague with much pride.
His pride was in the way of doing well according to the instructions from his boss.
Even though, Japanese people we worked with were kind to taught him. I thought that it would not be good to have much pride.

Interviews are conducted in only Japanese. You will be very nervous. If you don't understand Japanese, you would nervous more and forget more Japanese words.
We need to study Japanese hard on a routine basis not to forget Japanese words even when you are nervous.

Their next goal after becoming an SSW!

My goal is to obtain a Japanese maintenance technician license and transfer my visa and work in Japan for a long time.
For this goal, I will do my best to study Kanji.

My goal is to obtain a Japanese maintenance technician license and transfer my visa and work in Japan for a long time.
Eventually, I want to learn Japanese language and Japanese maintenance techniques so that I can get a permanent residence visa!

First of all, I want to study Japanese hard and get a Japanese maintenance technician license!

Difficulties when transferring to SSW

Arranging with the mover was the hardest. We have to make arrangements by ourselves (in Japanese)
In addition, since it is a long-distance movement across Japan, it is necessary to make arrangements and look up things so as not to take a wrong public transportation.
